How we select

Cable is chosen by current, installation and environment.

The cross-section of a copper conductor is worked out from the circuit current and the installation method, not picked by eye “with a margin”: concealed wiring in a wall heats up differently from cable in a tray. Portable loads and extension leads take flexible cable, overhead lines take SIP self-supporting cable, underground runs take cable in HDPE corrugated conduit.

PVS, ShVVP, AVVG and SIP are sold by the metre; other types, cross-sections and full drums to specification.

Which breaker and cable the line needs

Enter the power, supply and line length to get the design current, breaker rating, copper cable cross-section and voltage drop.

Indicative: copper in a wall or conduit, cos φ 0.95, C characteristic, voltage drop up to 5% for power circuits and up to 3% for lighting. The final choice follows the project and the wiring regulations (PUE), allowing for the installation method and temperature.

Questions and answers

Which cross-section should I choose for a circuit?
By the current and the length of the run: socket circuits in a flat are usually wired in 2.5 mm² copper on a 16 A breaker, lighting in 1.5 mm² on 10 A, a hob or a water heater from 4 mm² on a dedicated circuit. Aluminium and long runs need a margin for voltage drop. The calculator on this page cross-checks current, cross-section and breaker.
Do you have cable in coils and on drums?
Online — cut lengths by the metre. VVG power cable, other types and cross-sections, coils and drums are supplied on request: send the type, cross-section, length and timing, and we come back with a quotation and delivery terms. For companies — scheduled regular supplies.
How do you deliver cable?
Cut lengths travel by Nova Poshta or Ukrposhta together with the rest of the order, dispatched within 1–2 working days. Coils and drums go via the carrier’s freight terminal or direct to site; cost and timing are agreed in the quotation.
Will you put together the whole specification for a site?
Yes. Send the schedule or the list of circuits — we combine cable, breakers, conduit, boxes and accessories into one quotation, with technical equivalents where an item is out of stock. Prices in UAH, USD or EUR, depending on the item.
